A successful County Championships 2019
Despite another tightening of qualification times again this year, Black Lion smashed all their previous records as the 20019 Kent ASA Championships drew to a close this weekend. We scored a total of 384 points - almost double last years total of 211, and came away with a total of 32 medals - again nearly double last years total of 17.
Podium medals were won by:
David Allen 11 (7xG, 3xS, 1xB)
Albert Branch 10 (5xS, 5xB)
Chloe Eastwood 3 (1xG, 1xS, 1xB)
Ethan Spain 2 (1xG, 1xB)
Mia Colyer 3 (3xS)
Kieran Elvy 1 (1xB)
Olivia Elvy 1 (1xB)
Jack Pass 1 (1xB)
In addition Daisy Richards, Ellie Williams, Charlotte Marshall, Holly Colwell, Isabella Clark, Amy Bain, Callum Farrow, Ben Monahan, Nikita Mitrofanenko and Oscar Colyer all came away with finalists medals.
The award for most interesting time goes to Callum Farrow who swam 1:16.00 twice - (once in the 100m Back and then the 100m Fly) and also recorded 2:22.22 in 200m Free. Something spooky about numbers there…
Director of Performance Martin Jurco said "Counties being the first long course meet of the season we have put solid foundations for the season ahead. More swimmers medalled and placed in the finals than last year. We had a number of withdrawals due to injury and illness and this affected our score and results over the course of the championships - which take 4 consecutive weekends and are tough on swimmers."
