Success At South East Championships

After a successful County Championships Campaign, the Black Lion Swimming Club turned their attention to the South East Regional Championships. 14 swimmers represented the club at the championships, competing across 66 events, and were all on impressive form.

For the majority of the swimmers, the Regional Championships was the pinnacle meet of the swimming year and for others it was a chance to place qualifying times for the Summer National Championships.. There were 44 personal best times, 21 finalists, 7 podium medals, and 4 swimmers achieved National qualification times.

Regional Championships Medal winners:

  • David Allen (14) – Silver in 1500m Freestyle, Silver in 800m Freestyle, Bronze in 200m Freestyle, Bronze in 400m Freestyle, and Bronze in 400m Individual Medley.

  • Chloe Eastwood (16) – Bronze in 200m Breaststroke.

  • Charlotte Marshall (12) – Silver in 200m Butterfly.

Other swimmers were: Albert Branch (13) (finalist); Isabella Clarke (14); Holly Colwell (15); Mia Colyer (13) (finalist); Emma Cunliffe (12); Kieran Elvy (13); Callum Farrow (13); Nahum Fisher (12); Nikita Mitrofanenko (14); Jack Pass (12) (finalist); and Daisy Richards (12).

At the end of the championships, our Director of Performance, Coach Martin Jurco commented: “The hard work our swimmers have put in throughout the season was reflected in these fantastic results at the Regional Championships. The team showed great self-belief, courage and determination and I am proud to be part of their journey.”
