BLSC's Successful Talent Lanes Project sponsored by Swim England

Thanks to a grant awarded from Swim England, 11 Learn To Swim swimmers from the Medway Council area took advantage of this unique project led by Black Lion Swimming Club and supported by Medway Sport.

The course ran for 12 weeks and was aimed at swimmers in Stage 6 and above. The project was run by our Performance Director and  Coach Martin Jurco along with experienced coaching staff from the club. The aims of the project was to provide swimmers with an opportunity to learn how to swim the four competitive strokes (front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly), the more technical aspects of competitive swimming and associated racing skills such as starts and turns. This would provide swimmers with the opportunity to progress into the competitive swimming arena and join the Black Lion Swimming Club.

The project was a huge success, with close to 100% attendance, swimmers successfully achieving Club Award 1 and 2 certificates, and most importantly swimmers were happy, had fun and as one parent shared developed a new love of swimming….. "Chloe has finally found a love of swimming over the past 9 weeks so I cannot thank you enough for your efforts with this course."

Thank you to Swim England for helping fund the project, Medway Sport for their fantastic support, the collaboration from swim teachers in identifying suitable swimmers, and our Black Lion Coaches for delivering coaching sessions. We hope to be back delivering more Talent Lanes next season.
